In late Spring of 2015, Dean Malcom discovers himself thrown through space and time into an alternate universe where he came across Layla Harper. Together they established that the X-Men did not exist and no one knew what mutants were in this world. Determined to find out why-- Mal and Layla recruited a team of mutants: Ryan Andrews, Valerie Mitchell, Veronica Dobson, Kevin Silva, and Mera Rockbell. From there, they stole a jet and went to breathe life into the old and abandoned Xavier Estate.
During their investigation into The Traveller, a strange and powerful man that tried to stop them at every turn from building up mutants, they also had to contend with another group of far less peaceful mutants known as The Morlocks. The Morlocks would remain a temporary threat until their leader, Seeker, was brought down. This allowed the Morlocks to blossom in the Tomorrow Center.
When Mal's partner, Andrea, found him once more she set into helping the X-Men deal with The Traveller, whom they discovered was actually an older alternate version of Mal himself. When The Traveller attacked the Tomorrow Center the X-Men went to defend it only to find it was a total loss. All of the Morlocks died, several X-Men were nearly killed and Andrea turned out to be with Old Man Mal. In the end, Mal died to stop their plot in forcing him into using his reality altering powers.
Fifteen years into the future from that night the school had become defunct once more and the X-Men had gone their separate ways. It wasn't until, a now mentally broken down Layla, was approached by the sudden appearance of Mal's sister, Ruby Larkin, that things started to get serious once more. They'd gather every mutant together they could to fight a new threat, but all of them were destroyed in the effort. What saved them was Layla jumping back in time with the help of her sister Molly Harper and Ruby.
When Layla jumped back in time she took the killing blow for Mal and he was forced to use his powers to save her life and destroy The Traveller and Andrea. In the time since, Mal has gone on a mission to control his power. Leaving the now current X-Men of Layla, Kevin, Valerie, Veronica, Ruby, Ryan, Mera and trainee Max to figure it all out on their own while a dangerous new threat looms near.
