It was a few days in since their return to the X-Men Estate when Val finally went into labor. It'd happened in the middle of the morning, though after going through the hospital and being sent home with a statement of having 'plenty more time' it was only a few hours after that when she'd delivered Dylan Silva into the world within the walls of the mansion. A healthy baby of 17 inches long and just over 8 pounds with looks very much like his father save for the teal colored eyes and it seems some empathic traits from his mother.
Kevin kept close to Val, during and after-- making sure she didn't have a need to move around more than to tend to their son. It was starting to sink in a bit more now that he was a father, not that he'd been any less of a father before now with Val pregnant, but Dylan was here now and that became a more physical reminder to him. It was a mix of excitement and a bittersweet touch of sadness that his own parents wouldn't be able to see or hold their grandson. Val would eventually get him to settle down and 'enjoy the cuteness' of their son. There wasn't much more at the moment he could actually do to help for the moment other than being there for them both.
Ruby didn't have a lot to say to Kevin or Val, but she wasn't going to let the delivery happen alone either. While it was unusual for Dylan to display a mutation at birth, it wasn't unheard of...and it was a good sign that mutants could still be born. Ruby sat quietly in another room close by-- it's not like drywall could stop her if something happened. Not that she expected trouble, and even if she wanted to be watching over her brother...this newest child was possibly the youngest mutant on the planet now. A spark of that protective instinct possibly drawn from being unable to have children of her own.
