Ruby was lost in thoughts regarding the current situation at the estate-- Mal and Xavier's unchanged status, a new baby mutant in the house... For the moment she was working through a chaos program in the Danger Room, saving civilians as fast as she could. What she didn't know was that the state of limbo for Mal was about to change.

Layla had gotten used to the routine of spending time with Mal as she watched over him. Though at times needed a break to keep from going completely crazy. However, when she returned to Mal's room...there was a telltale sign of change-- the machines hooked up to Mal were making sounds as he started to move. She called out for Ruby, figuring the other woman wouldn't be far from her brother. Though as the machines kept making all manner of sounds, an additional change occured. Mal opened his eyes...and they were completely black. The tremor that went through his body...back arched, chest surging up as mass filled out from seemingly nowhere. Mal was gone. Blue was there.

It was too late as Layla realized the shift in Mal's body, putting her in close striking distance of his other half's claws. Even as Ruby appeared in the room, the distance was too great for her to move fast enough to reach Layla in time. Though he didn't attack, it seemed he was somewhat annoyed as he made his way past both Layla and Ruby to head upstairs. Only stating "She's coming." as he left a path of destruction in his effort to move out and away from the mansion. It started to click as to the who that she was, The Hunter. Layla could only piece for the moment that if both Blue and Ruby were retreating from this "she" then it wasn't going to bode well for the rest of them. Unfortunately for Ruby, she only made it to the front lawn. Appearing out of nowhere a ship split the atmosphere, otherworldly whirring engines sounding as blue beams ignited from the ship casting its light to the area below it's suspended structure. The lawn, Ruby and the front of the mansion were bathed in blue-white light. She was here, The Hunter.
