Since the events at the once Tomorrow Center left the area surrounding it in the city in ruins and an alien pyramid hovering over the space that once housed the building-- Steena, Gavin, Layla, Veronica, and Valerie had retreated for now back to the estate. It was not an ideal choice, as their goal was not achieved and two more members were now trapped in that metal construct. Instead of saving Molly and Max they had ended up having to leave Ruby and Kevin behind to fend for themselves. The though didn't sit well with Layla as she continued to go over the footage that had been captured during those events from the outside within the isolation of the War Room. They were all mending, Layla had taken quite a beating from Molly.

Gavin had kept to himself, mending from Molly's death blade strike and the further aggrivation to the injury when dragging two of the X-Men out of the collapsing building. Until they had a better plan, he would wait and let his body finish mending from the reaper's attack. Of course his attempt to having a quiet moment didn't last long as a rather annoying and 'loud' man dressed in tactical blacks showed up demanding where "he" was and being vague at best. Gavin didn't know and told the man as much, not caring for the individual to be more helpful than blunting putting he's just visiting the place and details would better help if he wanted answers. It might have turned into a fight if not for Layla stepping out moments later to answer Nick Fury's question.

As much as Layla wanted to lash out, that wasn't going to help the situation or get those still inside that pyramid out of there. She opted for stating the facts as she knew them for now. They didn't have an plan of attack yet, but that was a work in progress. The back and forth between Fury and Layla wasn't helping the current situation. It didn't help much more when Gavin got annoyed to the point of telling the two to stop arguing as Fury threatened to shoot him. Which didn't help more when Steena showed up to defend him. Fury didn't stay much longer, but he made his point that things were going to be renegotiated after this matter in the city was resolved.

Once he'd left, Layla turned some of that frustation onto Steena-- if it wasn't for the fact that they could use the help right now, both Steena and Gavin wouldn't be there. Veronica caught the tail end of that spat and turned to make her way from the tension and into the sanctuary of the kitchen for the time being leaving Gavin and Steena with a private moment to chat. He made two points to Steena. One a subtle statement she'd pick up on that it wasn't necessary to protect him. With the second being that she needed to stop fighting with Layla and play nice. She countered that both Ruby and Layla had been making it all personal as if to explain her attitude and if he thought she was the problem then he could start doing the talking. Gavin stated before she turns to leave that the situation was personal, he could sense that, multiple individuals that meant something to each of them were tangled in this mess. As he watched her head upstairs to her room he only stated 'maybe' in response to start doing the talking for her.

Inside the structure that was now a floating pyramid above the ruins of the Tomorrow Center-- Ruby was suspended in mid-air and unable to do much more than talk. Trying to talk to Max and reason with him to let her go and help Kevin, who was currently within the confines of that sarcophagus under the watch of En Sabah Nur. Eventually her chatter drew Max up to engage her in a talk. The conversation between Ruby and Max did little more to change the situation. Max was willing to follow the call of Apocalypse to whatever end at this point. A time after Max grew bored of the chat, the sarcophagus opened once more to reveal the man once known as Kevin and now Famine. Without a word, he moved to follow En Sabah Nur and to watch as a form was pulled from the rubble of the fallen Tomorrow Center. Quinn had survived, yet badly injured and dying after holding out for so long... There was a part of him that wanted to see how strong she could be after being placed in the machine...yet another part did not but didn't want to see her die either. Despite the hesitation, the three would return to the sanctuary of the pyramid.
