An uneasy quiet fills lingers in the estate. Since returning from that encounter at the former Tomorrow Center, the mood had been mixed. There was a bit of hope with Mal's return but there was still so many unanswered questions surrounding Apocalypse and his newly formed Horsemen.
Mal had spend his time in the quiet space of the subbasement area to focus on himself. After the use of powers that could do just as much harm as well as good, it was difficult not to entertain the thought of using those very powers to 'fix' things. Layla had left him to that quiet space for a time, but eventually came down to check in on him. Mal was questioning how fair any of this was...to tell Layla and the others about a better way unfamiliar to them and leaving the burden of that world on his shoulders as he disappeared. It left him to consider 'what if' he fixed this world...stop Apocalypse...bring back Charles...puting things back piece by piece. While Layla agreed it wasn't fair in the sense Mal was viewing the situation, she also pointed out that it was never expected to be that way-- he was always from another world. Plus, just because he had the power to change things didn't mean in the end he should. Her voice of reason keeping him focused. Eventually moving their talk upstairs to some much needed coffee and to consider who was caught up in this mess now. Mal knew about Max and Kevin having seen them when he arrived. Layla confirmed that Quinn was there...and so was Molly. That was a surprise to Mal...she'd been dead, but not that seemed to not be the case. Both reassuring the other that they'd figure this out somehow.
Gavin was keeping to himself, as Steena had been keeping herself distant from even him currently. Not much he could do about it other than just let things go as they would right now, though it took him a moment to settle down in a chair on the front porch-- the last time he'd been in that area an iritable man in leather demanding answers had crossed his path. Gavin didn't care to have a repeat performance.
Out back a little ways from the mansion, Valerie was taking time to train. It'd been one or the other recently...and right now it was training. Though her private training session was interupted by Ruby posing the question Val had already being going over since Kevin's disappearance in that Pyramid. She had a plan. It might not work, but it was the best she had currently and she was either going to succeed or kill him to spare Kevin from his current fate. Ruby kept pointing out the parts that could go wrong and how it's not going to work as she'd imagine. Val wasn't ready to let the doubts sway her current plan...if doubt worked it's way in...she wouldn't have a chance in the first place. Even if Ruby's intent was to have her keep in mind the realistic chances of this encounter...it was wearing on her and she needed to keep some hope alive. She couldn't let herself fall apart...
