There wasn’t much to gain, seeing as Max and Ruby were considered part of the presence by a third unknown mutant and the chaos currently surrounding the airport. The TSA was shooting at anything that was perceived a threat…and that meant Max and Ruby as much as the strange gunmen with the tech toys that’d opened fire back around one of the terminal gates. Ruby wasn’t particularly pleased with the constant shooting of bullets that plinked off her stone red skin— humanity was not very accepting of mutants, or things outside the norm in general. Ruby…ticked off every checkbox regarding the lack of normal, and was perceived as a threat. Though the two managed to find out that this ‘mysterious’ mutant was one of the three suspects reported on the radio and currently held downstairs in the Duty Free storage room. Given the current situation, it would be best for the two to split up— Max checking in the storage room and determining friend or foe, while Ruby deals with the chaos in the airport.

Hidden in the corner of the storage room, Alys struggles with the fever and that ‘light’ which came with it…just like last time. It’d all happened so suddenly, it was a blur of images in her mind, the memory of some individuals…and some TSA guys— the fight broke out only a short distance away and that’s when it erupted within her. That ‘light’ and…it’d taken one of those other gunmen down, but it also didn’t make the other TSA men anymore comfortable as the actions quickly broke down into chaos. The only clear thing she knew to do was to run…and hide…away from people. Locked away in the storage room…she’d thought it was her best option. With the gunmen and TSA holding their own fight…trying to flee outside wouldn’t work without running into the crowd and hurting more people. Being alone until this passed…it was the best she could think of— at least she had thought she was alone. Until another man’s voice broke the silence…she hadn’t heard the door being forced open, but sure enough…someone else had managed to make their way into the storage room with her. He’d even been so kind as to introduce himself as Max— he was there to help. Alys didn’t want help…she just wanted people to stay away from her. Her continued protest fell on deaf ears…regardless of pushing away, he still persisted in stating he just wanted to help her. The situation upstairs wasn’t going well, and leaving no choice after receiving Ruby’s comm message— Max took her hand and teleported the two of them back to the mansion. Where it seems while that ‘light’ didn’t kill him like she’d seen happen before…it did something— the killing look in his eyes made her want to run. Even at the attempt to flee somewhere in the unfamiliar place she now found herself in didn’t go well…somehow no longer in the storage room at the airport but the lawn of some mansion. Max had recovered from that look and manifested himself in front of her before she could try to push her body too much in an attempt to run. Begrudgingly she came to the realization that she wasn’t going anywhere…and in less danger here for the moment. In the end she follows Max inside to do the bare minimum of changing out of sweat-soaked clothes from the fever and into something dry before crashing into bed to rest.

Meanwhile up in the chaos of the airport itself, Ruby was making her way to ‘negotiate’ with the security agents to calm things down. It wasn’t going well…still seen as just ‘another one of them’ the gunfire was aimed at her at the attempts to be civil. She’d called Max by the comm to tell him to get out of here with the girl if he hadn’t ended up as some laser stain from whatever that light was they’d seen on the monitors earlier. She’d make her own way home outside of the original method via teleport earlier. Not that she cared that method in the first place. Ruby made a very good point at how bullet proof she was…and that handcuffs weren’t really going to work since they broke like weak aluminum foil. Once she got the message that all was clear from Max, there was no reason to keep playing interference at the discovery of another mutant. At the sight of the empty storage room an no perceived threat hidden within, it took little to have some semblance of order restored as some followed Ruby to check for others that needed help while others remained to secure the area. Eventually after some time SHIELD showed up collecting that curious tech from the gunmen’s failed plan at the airport. Though that didn’t keep one of them from demanding to know where ‘she’ was…the female mutant that had been in the airport that day other than Ruby herself. The only answer gained from that line of questioning is that the ‘unknown’ female mutant was one of theirs and didn’t cause this situation in the first place. That didn’t leave SHIELD happy about the situation, but neither did they stop Ruby as she left the airport.
