It had been reasonably calm, though Alys hadn't made too many attempts to actually slip out of the guest room on the second floor to interact with anyone right now. The fever had passed, but it left her hesitant to test things at the moment. She'd worked to time her excursion from the room to eat dinner, and take a peek at the area of the study Max mentioned before returning to the same four walls she'd kept to since the airport incident. It wasn't long before Ruby showed up to introduce herself as the other that'd arrived on scene at the airport to help her that night she'd become a walking nightlight.

Ruby invited her out for a walk as well...though more of an excuse to have a talk with her. It was pretty simple to figure that Max had given "his speech" regarding this place...this mansion...the people and what they do. He certainly made it sound like an ideal dream. Ruby on the other hand had a different approach...she wasn't supposed to be an X-Men and yet, she was around them. Others were either dead, gone or unavailable as she bluntly put it...and now things have changed. Ever since what they'd done in the Mediterranean-- a change occurred to have new mutants start appearing after such a long absence and only the occasional mention with an event that made the news.

That brought up the question from Ruby regarding Alys' own travel plans. She was still trying to take everything in and trying to puzzle out what that question had to do with things currently. She'd mentioned she was arriving in from Albania and that apparently put another puzzle piece in for Ruby-- it was directional and following the jet streams. Whatever that 'it' was at the moment. Of course Alys didn't look or sound like a native to the area, so the next question was about her reason for being there. Still puzzled, and missing something she hadn't quite linked yet-- Alys states that she was in the Peace Corp helping with health education there. It seemed to satisfy that question, Alys barely took note of the change in the area as they exited the lift into a more futuristic hospital like area that was residing below the upper area of the mansion.

Ruby point blank states she wasn't going to give a pep talk, but there was something she wanted to show her so she could decide what to really do with that information. Regardless, the invitation was extended to use this place as she wanted either way...and she took that to mean regardless of joining their group or not. Behind what appeared to be a unique door with an X in the metal material itself and a blue light in the middle. Ruby moved ahead and put her face eye level to that light, looking a bit different for a moment before the sounds of the door unlocking as it opens catch her attention.

The chamber beyond was massive, a console at the end of a long catwalk within the spherical room-- Ruby entered in a few keystrokes causing the light to dim and the walls to light up with a map of the world. Amber lines outlined the major land masses, shortly after followed by three dozen dots of light marking the map and mostly concentrated within the northeastern US section. According to Ruby, that was the number of mutants three months ago. With a few more keystrokes the map dots flared to life adding new ones that were more concentrated around the Mediterranean area and spreading outward, those mutants from as little as two weeks ago. From what Ruby states, there's a heavier concentration westward but the number of known mutants has triples and keeps doubling the original number every two weeks. Making the point that those are a lot of scared people trying to figure out what happened to them...and there's only two currently available to even try to help them. Alys took that to mean Max and Ruby.

It seemed that Ruby knew a lot of what was going on, but when Alys asked why all this was happening-- there wasn't a clear answer. The best educated guess, something had prevented natural mutation from becoming active...and what happened in the Mediterranean Sea had managed to reverse that. While the news media had covered that incident, even with what little bits Alys had heard...it was left to much generalization of an explosion of sorts. Though perhaps, as Ruby speculates, Alys might be able to help figure it out...she was still trying to piece together what parts of the story she'd been given to make any sense of it all. How could she help figure this out when she barely knew how to help herself right now? A moment later Ruby turned away to tend to whatever other business away from the room, not making an signal for Alys to follow but leaving the impression the talk was over now. The offer to stay and help her figure out how to deal with her power was on the table, and it was a better offer than all those dots on the map were getting right now. Alys lingered a bit longer...mulling over the talk and that map before returning to the guest room she'd been using to try and get some sleep. There were so many more questions than answers right now...and the scope of everything made it weigh a bit heavier on her mind.
