It’d been some time since Val and Kevin had taken root at her parents place, the property was vast given the land needed to raise livestock. After the events over the Mediterranean Sea, he’d learned Val was pregnant and she hadn’t wanted to return to the X-Men and place their unborn child in harms way. Neither did he, but Kevin still felt like he’d owed those back home an explanation, especially given the situation just before their last contact with each other. It seems that over time, the more that Val saw herself close to that due date, she’d been reflecting on the life they’d left behind…the one she’d asked him to give up for their family. It was today that she had finally discussed the matter with her mother, and now brought it up to Kevin— seeking his true thoughts. Val wanted her village, a place to raise their child without the fear or misunderstandings that could happen here even at her parents place…accepting as they were of their own unique abilities. She’d been thinking about it enough that Val already envisioned Layla as the young child’s aunt…and Ruby teaching their child all the bad words. He had to laugh at the image, but he understood where Val’s mind had distracted her to today. He wanted to go back for a number of reasons himself. So it didn’t surprise him when they’d decided on finally doing just that. They’d go spend time with her parents first, it might be some time before they saw one another again…there was no knowing what they would walk into upon their return. They’d have to take care with traveling, not just for Val and the baby’s sake, but he wanted to keep their movement as unobserved as possible. Save Layla, he didn’t want anyone else knowing they were coming until they arrived.
