Max had finished up with morning training and was in the kitchen, more or less keeping to himself. He wasn't speaking to Layla or Ruby more than need be currently. It was perhaps a few moment after he'd settled in at the table with his breakfast sandwich when Alys walked into the room as well, coming in from her excursion to the garden on the estate after her own lessons with Ruby. She looked at Max a bit puzzled when she saw him putting ketchup on his egg sandwich-- a dish he confirmed that might look repulsive was actually rather delicious.
He inquired how she was doing with her own training. It was something Alys really had difficulty gauging, seeing as what she was learning didn't seem to have a known individual to have a knack or talent for...it was basically charting new territory. Not that she minded, but it didn't give much to weigh in with personal progress. Short of she hadn't recently had another "incident" in some time. The answer she provided of training going well enough was good enough for Max. He was a bit torn about dealing with homework rather than doing work down in the lab. She was curious why he would push aside one work for another, to which he explained it was in the joy of creating something. He spoke about creating some new power source he was going to call a Singularity Core.
The idea sounded wonderful, something that would be able to provide those that had little for themselves...such as in the areas she used to live in and work to help people-- a means for these individuals to have the advantage of something many take for granted. It drew her thoughts to wondering if there was something she herself could do or create...she couldn't return to the work she once did anymore, not since her powers had manifested. But maybe there was something else... Max had long disappeared to go and 'tinker' as he put it as her mind drifted down various thoughts of her own.
